Aetna vs. Mt. Etna

1

We did our Winter Solstice celebration in the backyard, me and Megan and Brittany. We choose our runes from the bag that Megan held in her enchanted hand. I got a straight line. That means be patient and let it unfold. That’s what I remember anyways.

There are so many healing modalities that we have forgotten about or haven’t discovered yet, not just modernized medicine, the big business model. Health care should be free, shareable and enabling not price fixed, proprietary and disabling.

Patience. People survived for thousands of years, millions of years without the AMA. The AMA, those folks who certify the medical schools where you get your MD so you can become a practicing doctor, educated and certified, enabled to test, diagnose and prescribe.

I’m gonna get wound up on the health insurance and professional medical care in this country. My new health insurance company that I just signed up for is called Aetna after Mt. Etna in Sicily. It’s the largest volcano in Italy and one of the most active in all of Europe. The mountain not the insurance company. I have no reason to think that it will be any better than the other two. The insurance company not the mountain.

“The deal with dying is to enjoy living. If you enjoy living then you can enjoy dying too.” I said off the top of my head.
“But I don’t want to get all creaky and and lame and sick and stuff.” replied Bill.
“That’s growing old. That’s not dying. You’re still here, you still exist. When you die you’re not here anymore.”
That was the conversation between me and my buddy Bill as we were raked leaves in the front yard. I thought it was brilliant. A real epiphany.

We had discovered rich mulch under the leaves and were scraping it up to add to the soilerator.

The soilerator is my invention. It’s in the backyard and it’s basically a large plywood box. Inside are old decaying leaves, bog goop from the bog filter and the leaf mulch - digested right down to almost dirt by the little people working their magic. All this turning into dirt in the soilerator, gestating if you like. I’m making dirt for my ranchito so I can grow stuff.

Sometime in February I guess I’ll start putting in seeds.

Ok. Mt. Etna it’s your turn.

Aetna Health Insurance Company has 22.1 million ‘members’, 1.2 million ‘health-care professionals’, 690,000 doctors, and 5,700 hospitals They own CVS. Or maybe CVS owns them. They’re selling health care products. But of course you’ve got to be sick first.

It’s kinda like the military/industrial complex. It’s a good business, but you’ve gotta have a war.

Patience.

Mt. Etna has been here a long time.
