Ladies and Gentlemen . . .
I have completed a rough draft of ‘The Ancient Book of Magic Secrets’. Now it needs to be fully edited, front to back, to see how it reads, is it connected, is it in same voice or is it as if written by 15 different people at 15 different times in 15 different places, which actually it was. Is it understandable? Is it relatable, does it capture people’s imagination? This might take a few months or it might take another year.
Many times I have doubted that I could complete this project and many times I have felt discouraged, overwhelmed. Trying to learn how to do something - how to write a book, and at the same time write a book. You know what I mean? No previous experience, just an aspiration. Me and the universe; me floating around in the universe or the universe floating around within me. Which one is it? I was able to observe that question through several different lenses in the process of writing this book. Is the space/time matrix fundamentally co-existent with consciousness? Great question for the quantum physicist in you. How did our ancient ancestors live for 300,000 years without any government, barely any society - just a few people in the ‘tribe’, and no laws. They had rules but no overwhelming righteous indignation type laws because there was no crime. How could you get away with anything living in a tribe. In a cave. People can see everything, everybody knew everything about everybody. An interesting scenario for the amateur anthropologist in you.
And that’s what the book is about - taking a journey into the question of ‘what is human?’. I mean since we are one, we would be the ones to know. But do we ever ask the question? Like so much else in our modern world - what is most obvious is what we know the least about, in this case ourselves.
Not to shabby for an impossible project, right? It will be nearly impossible to write this book and hit all the keys like I want to, and then get it published, and then find an audience. It’s one in a million. Well maybe one in five hundred thousand now that I’ve got a rough draft in hand.
And besides, we are the humans, we can imagine things and aspire. It’s a lovely trait. Monkees don’t really do it. We love adventure and exploration. We love a good story. We are easily entertained around the ole campfire/TV/internet, just tell us a good story and we’re enchanted. I’ve learned this much.
Our human life resembles a story. It has a beginning and an end, it has character development, challenges, conflict resolution, allies and enemies. It has a flow to it, a rhythm called day and night. It has surprises and tragedies. It has beauty. It has love. I’ve learned that much.
