I've always respected ants. They have teamwork, order, dedication, but they don't seem like AI to me. They still like magic tricks and comedy clubs in their off hours. I like your telling of what they are doing and where they are going. These simple seeming stories of regular life are fun to listen to!
Yes, ants are biological entities, to me that means there's a HUGE difference between them and AI, because they're living beings while AI is a human invention. Maybe you'd answer that humans are God's invention, and look how alive we are? But humans don't need gods, certainly not ONE God. Gods and Goddesses, sure -- except I would name them differently. God? Nah. Maybe I take you too literal.
are viruses alive ?? they replicate but have no brain or metabolism / so does AI / if it's not alive might it become alive in the future ?? i'm just posing questions / trying to scare people into thinking about it
Fungi don't have a brain, trees don't have a brain, and yet... Ants definitely have a brain. I just think there's a fundamental difference between machine-generated things and living entities, even those that need a host in order to replicate. Do you remember Mandelbrot Fractals? I never liked them all that much because they looked too regular, no flaws or errors.
yes that's true mandelbrot was endless perfection / it takes a human to screw something up / now we've got drama tragedy triumph all kinds of theatrical effects / literature and art / politics
😀 And here's the fundamental difference between our outlooks/worldviews: the reason I don't like the fractals is because Nature is messy, trees don't grow in straight lines, water flows in a spiral motion, etc. It's not screwed up, just the way it is. Art, literature, etc. are great but don't eclipse human-caused climate emergency etc. We HAVE to change our anthropocentric views, that's my take.
yes i know your position / it's very clear to me / you have expressed it over and over / my view is that we have to become fully human before we can affect any significant change / if we're not fully human then we're not yet in command of our power / we're fragmented / a bit lost in our mind and susceptible to manipulation / changing our anthropocentric views is naturally part of that along with the wisdom and creativity needed to create a beautiful world for all
And I'll express it some more, because it's so important 😉. Maybe what you call "become fully human" is exactly what I'm talking about, except that I see it as a process that simultaneously affects everything around us. Not "first one, then the other". Ah well, maybe we should agree to disagree 😉

Ants are an important part of our ecosystem. They are nature's cleanup crew for dead animals.
they'll also eat your house
