Two of my favorite things. This is Avram Fefer: Bedouin Dream. Wow. Avram Fefer on the big sax with bassist Eric Revis, Marc Ribot on guitar and Chad Taylor drums. From the album Juba Lee recorded in 2022. Dig it. Jazz. It’s been around since the end of the 19th century rising up out of the Blues and the Spirituals of the deep South, the African dance rhythms, the call and response traditions. When you mix all that up on the streets of New Orleans - that’s jazz.
Cool tracks. I had a bike, a Peugeot Course that I loved. I had no idea the French were so important in bike history! When I lived in Portland, the bike was locked in the basement of my apartment building but it got stolen anyway. Maybe 8-10 months later I saw it locked up on a Burnside street. It was beat up and possibly abandoned. I wanted it back anyway. I showed the police a photo of it and they gave it to me. It never returned to its full glory but I was glad to have it back anyway.
