Absolutely. I feel it is different getting recognition and fame. I would prefer recognition myself. Working on my Memoir (Book 1) and your post just got me another chapter (for Book 2) . Marqueza de Val Verde, Franco’s (yes, the dictator!) daughter was in love with my dad! Thank you.

OMG Rohn, you did it again (and again and again and again and.......you know!). So amazing this account of your Mayflower ancestor!!!!! And a lot like my own upbringing --very evangelical, religious, oppressive, ignorant, stifling (however you spell it), denying.....until.....the oppressed child just has to break out of the philosophical jail..... and find-----FREEDOM! Love, Peace, self knowledge, and all! Thanks again for your wonderful crafting, writing, expressing.!!!!

thank you for your effusive comment / love you / and congratulations for your breaking thru to freedom love peace and self knowledge / although i'm sure some people experience that thru their religion there is always that little anxiety of being separated from the greater truth by your own beliefs

Great story, thank you for sharing. Yes we are all conditioned by how and where we grew up, and I agree that at a certain point we must take responsibility for our own healing and consciousness. Great to hear about your progress. Just don’t give up. There is always more to do.

What an interesting ancestor. I'm glad you were able to disentangle yourself from this religious oppression -- it truly is poison. Organized religion DEMANDS that one believes -- how totally illogical this is! It boggles the mind. Good riddance indeed.

i understand why people like it and believe it and invent it but i think it's part of a healthy maturation process to look at it all objectively and want to take it to a deeper level / joseph campbell has alot to say about this which may be my next post

I have no problem with the content ; Joseph Campbell and before him Carl Gustav Jung showed how it is part of our collective psyche. But when organized religion tries to force it down people's throat and demands that we BELIEVE their version -- an oxymoron! -- that's what gets to me, and why I think it's poison.

"On the other hand when I look at the strewn disarray of what I call my life, there is a unique and extraordinary beauty in it. Something splendid survived."

Wonderful. I am glad. This is true and thanks for telling about it.
