60-some-odd years ago, the U.S. entered the Vietnam War in an attempt to prevent the spread of communism. A decade later, our troops were withdrawn. That was a very unpopular war.

In 1979, the Soviet Union began an invasion of Afghanistan. They may have stayed longer but America began sending millions of aid to the mujahidin. Boy, did that come back and bite us.

The training and equipment we gave them were used against us once the U.S. got involved over there. The Russians fought the Taliban for 10 years. The U.S. lasted 20.

I guess we're still looking for the answer to Peter, Paul, & Mary's question:

When will we ever learn?

Sign me up as a warrior on war. I've got an artillery of truth strategies, a stream of fast flying bulletins containing concentrated stark questions to be answered before return of fire. Worms have already started the groundswell movement to absorb and compost this war and all others going on. It's worth trying since nothing else has stopped the habit.
