I’m intoxicated by the falling leaves. Especially if they’re wet. I feel wealthy, rich with leaves.
The front porch greets me with leaves.
mixed among the new growth
the leaves lie where they fall
it’s beautiful
i walk among the leaves
they have nothing to say
i like that.
i sit among the leaves
i listen closely
nothing happens
i am consoled by so many leaves
just lying here
saying nothing doing nothing
there must be a million leaves
I am a millionaire!
intermixed with sticks
and dirt the leaves lie strewn across the yard
i like sticks
you find them everywhere
they fall out of the trees
there is a stick in this picture
can you find it ??
under the monterey oak is a bower a shelter a sanctuary
an altar a temple a grotto
the entrance is threaded
with elves little green people
they protect and welcome
they lead the way
i find the jewel of great price
glowing and shimmering among the leaves and sticks and acorns
and dirt
the garden beds are covered with leaves
and it looks like more leaves to come
up on high the green and yellow ones
long to fall and be transformed
it’s a baptism of leaves
oh to be covered in leaves
we used to do that as kids
make a big pile of leaves and jump in it
i guess i’ll try that
